ILV Marseille - Spring 03
4 - 12 June 2003
The Institute for Living Voice is
...an INTERNATIONAL CENTER offering workshops, concerts, discussions, and special events focused on singing. It is open to anyone who is interested in vocal art and the human voice.
... an "EXPLORATORY”, NOT A CONSERVATORY. ILV is a home for the exploration of the human voice in all its manifestations: classical, opera, jazz, experimental, alternative rock, new pop, world music, folk, traditional, blues, sacred and profane. Each session offers workshop, concerts, round table discussions. ILV offers the chance to mix and measure the lively variety of contemporary vocal music.
... a MEETING PLACE. At the ILV, master-singers and students from around the world meet, sing together, exchange ideas about the human voice, hear each other's voices in concert and plan projects for the future.
... a “NOMAD” INSTITUTE. Each session discovers the pleasures of a new city: Gent, Bruges, Antwerp, Amsterdam, New York, Berlin, Marseille, ... The ILV is collaborating with international art institutions and Festivals: Vooruit Kunst Centrum, Gent - Kong Workshop Center, Gent - Brugge, Cultural Capital 2002 - Cultuurcentrum Brugge - Concertgebouw Brugge - Holland Festival, Amsterdam - Fabrica, Italy - GRIM/Montévidéo, Marseille. THE ILV HAS SEEN Cheryl Barker, Greetje Bijma, Jaap Blonk, Amelia Cuni, Omar Ebrahim, Diamanda Galas, Catherine Jauniaux, Joan La Barbara, Lydia Lunch, Koichi Makigami, Phil Minton, Meredith Monk, David Moss, Sainkho Namtchylak, Miriam Palma, Gidon Saks, Susannah Self, Ustad G.H.
