Amelia Cuni
Amelia Cuni, born in Italy, now based in Berlin, is a singer, composer and performer. She has trained her voice and musical skills in India, according to the tradition of DHRUPAD singing and KATHAK dance. Her present work includes contemporary music and multimedia collaborations with several artists of international repute. She is engaged in the transmission of the knowledge she has acquired from her gurus and she teaches Indian singing at the Vicenza Conservatory in Italy.
In Stavanger she will perform “Solo 58 – 18 microtonal ragas” by John Cage. Cage became influenced by Indian music and philosophy and started applying some of its principles to his own work. “Solo 58 – 18 microtonal ragas” consists of 18 separate and independent parts, it is an 'indeterminate' work, and represents an exceptional and unique practical example of Cage's own approach to this musical tradition.
