Chris Mann is one of Australia's most important creative artists, well-known as an innovative poet, composer, writer, performer, and improviser. His works for voice are based on complex texts, freely composed to allow a play of wit and humour. He explores the textures and gestures of Australian speech, with its rhythms and qualities of colour, pitch, intonation and emphasis.
He has collaborated widely with composers, film-makers, and electronic music composers. He is a composer working in Compositional Linguistics, and worked with Machine for Making Sense until moving to New York in the mid-nineties.
