Biography Lia Ferenese (Argentina)

Singer, actress and performer Lia Ferenese studied singing at the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón with Catalina Hadis and Ángel Mattiello. She also studied with Isabel Penagos in Madrid, and is a Licentiate in Philosophy from the La Plata National University. She has performed the principal role in La Bohème at the Teatro Argentino de La Plata and La Traviata in a production of the Centro de Divulgación Musical de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. At the CETC, she has sung La casa sin sosiego, Pierrot Lunaire, Diario de un desaparecido and Sciarrino’s Lohengrin, and in Juana de Arco en la hoguera, El murciélago, Las campanas, Bachianas Brasileiras in Córdoba and Bahía Blanca theatres. Recent creations include the first audition of Recitations and La nuit en tête by Georges Aperghis, and the play El caso Elsa/Live concert. 

In 2006, she premiered Marcelo Toledo’s La selva interior on the writer Horacio Quiroga, in the CETC season, and Sciarrino’s Vanitas at the San Martín Theatre. Ferenese is also an experienced teacher, having worked at the Jornadas Universitarias del Canto at the Universidad Autónoma de México, and in the courses offered by the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón.
